Google Just Built You a Page Inside Search. Here’s How to Claim It.

It’s free, it takes 15 minutes, and if you have 100K followers anywhere you should probably do this today.

Hey [first name]!

Okay so Google dropped something this week that we genuinely want to make sure you know about before it gets buried in your feed under seventeen other “Google news” posts.

On June 4th, Google officially launched Search Profiles for publishers and creators. And before your eyes glaze over, just stay with us for a second because this one is actually worth your attention.

Here is the short version: Google built you a page. Inside Google. That you can actually customize. With your bio, your links, your latest content, and a Follow button that connects directly to Google Discover. It is basically a link in bio but it lives inside Google Search itself and it is completely free. We have been telling our clients for years to connect their social profiles, show up everywhere, make it easy for Google to understand who you are. This is Google confirming that strategy out loud.

What this actually is

A Search Profile is a claimable page on Google Search and Discover that pulls together your content from YouTube, social platforms, and your website into one single place. You can add an avatar, a bio, your website, all your social accounts, and featured content. Once it is set up, people can find it by searching your name on Google, by tapping your name in a Google Discover card, or through a direct URL you can share anywhere.

The Follow button is the piece of this that we think people are sleeping on. When someone follows you through your Search Profile, they are more likely to see your content show up in their Google Discover feed. For food bloggers especially, Discover has become a really meaningful traffic source. This gives your readers a dead simple way to opt into seeing more of your content there.

What it actually does (and one thing it does not)

We want to be straight with you here because some of the coverage this week has oversold this a little. Google’s own documentation confirms that creating a Search Profile does not affect your search rankings. So this is not going to undo the traffic losses from AI Overviews. That is important to understand going in. What it does do is three genuinely useful things.

01

Discover visibility & the Follow button

When someone follows you through your Search Profile, they are more likely to see your content in their Google Discover feed. Getting readers to follow you in Discover means your content keeps showing up for them even when they are not actively searching for you. That is a warm audience you own in a way that social followers do not quite replicate.

02

Your Knowledge Panel

Claiming a Search Profile can trigger the creation of a Knowledge Panel if you don’t already have one. And if you do have one, it will be updated with your latest content, your avatar, and a direct link to your profile. A strong Knowledge Panel has always been one of the clearest ways Google signals that you are a credible, established source. This is one of the easiest ways to get or improve yours.

03

Consolidation you actually control

Right now if someone searches your name on Google they might get a scattered mix of results from different platforms with no clear through line. Your Search Profile becomes the one place that ties all of it together in a way you actually own and control. Bio, website, every platform, latest content, all in one Google-hosted page.

Why Google built this now

Here is the context that matters. An analysis by Seer Interactive found that when an AI Overview is present in search results, organic click-through rates dropped 61 percent between June 2024 and September 2025. Publishers have been vocal about this for over a year and Google has been under real pressure to give creators more tools.

Search Profiles sit alongside two other recent updates: a new opt-out toggle for AI Overviews and a Generative AI performance report in Search Console. None of these tools fix the underlying traffic issue but they do give creators more infrastructure and more control. We think that matters even if it is not a silver bullet.

How to Claim Yours

Three steps, about 15 minutes.

1

Go to profile.google.com/claim

Sign in with the Google account you want associated with your profile. If you’re a YouTube creator, use the same account connected to your channel.

2

Connect your eligible platform account

Sign in to at least one account that meets the follower threshold. Google will automatically check whether an unclaimed profile already exists. You can add additional platforms during setup. Your handle will be set to match your most-followed account.

3

Fill out your profile and publish

Add your bio, link all your platforms, add your website, and hit publish. If you don’t immediately see a Knowledge Panel appear when you search your name, don’t panic. It can take time, and if there are other people with similar names it may display differently.

Our Actual Recommendation

Claim it now. Not because it is going to change everything overnight — it will not. But it is free, it takes 15 minutes, it can get you or improve your Knowledge Panel, it gives your audience a way to follow you in Discover, and it consolidates everything into one Google-hosted page you actually control. Also, and we say this with love: Google has a long history of shutting down the things people find useful. Get in while this is working.

If you want to talk through how this fits into your broader strategy or what to put in your bio to make the most of it, just reply. We are in this stuff every single day and we are happy to think through it with you.
