TOOL SPOTLIGHT
The One Tool Every Blogger Should Be Using On Social Media Right Now
We’ve been using it with every single client for over a year. We weren’t paid to say it - we just genuinely think Grocers List (also, I’m sensing and noticing a brand overhaul to “GroCo” - you heard it here first LOL) is one of the most important tools in a food blogger’s toolkit right now, and here’s exactly why.
|
A quick note before we dive in: We have zero affiliation with Grocers List. No sponsorship, no referral deal, no relationship with their team. These are our honest observations from a full year of using this tool across our entire client roster. We call it like we see it — always. |
First Things First: Why DM Automation Is Non-Negotiable in 2026
Let’s talk about what’s happening on Instagram right now. The “link in bio” is dying a slow, quiet death. If you’re still directing every follower to your bio link and hoping they’ll click through to your blog, you’re losing traffic you’ve already earned.
Instagram Reels and posts have massive discovery power right now. People are seeing your content, they’re excited about your recipes — and then the moment they have to navigate away from the post to find your link, you lose them. DM automation closes that gap instantly. Someone comments a keyword, and within seconds they have your link, your lead magnet, or your recipe directly in their inbox. No friction. No lost clicks.
On top of that, the email list is still — without question — the most valuable asset a food blogger can own. Social platforms change their algorithms. Google updates its ranking systems. Ad rates fluctuate. But your email list? That’s yours. DM automation tools that build your list at the same time they drive traffic are doing double duty, and that’s exactly where Grocers List shines.
What Is Grocers List, Exactly?
Grocers List (grocerslist.com) is a Meta-verified Instagram DM automation platform built specifically for food bloggers and recipe creators. Where tools like ManyChat were built for general marketers and then awkwardly adapted for content creators, Grocers List was designed from the ground up with food bloggers in mind.
The core mechanic is simple: a follower sees your post or Reel, comments a keyword (like RECIPE or CHICKEN), and Grocers List automatically sends them a DM with the link to your blog post, recipe, freebie, or lead magnet. But it does so much more than that, and that’s what we want to unpack today.
|
“We started using it for one client. By the end of that month, we were migrating everyone. Our entire client roster now runs on Grocers List — and we won’t go back.” |
Why Grocers List Works So Well for Food Bloggers
Here’s a breakdown of the features that make this tool different — and why we think it’s worth prioritizing above almost everything else on your tech stack right now.
FEATURE 01
It Practically Runs Itself - The Default Keyword
This is the feature that separates Grocers List from everything else. Once you connect it to your Instagram account, you can set a default keyword that applies automatically to every post you publish. The link comes directly from your post caption — Grocers List reads it and uses it. That means you post your Reel, write your caption with your link, and the automation is already set. No logging back in. No rebuilding a flow. No recreating anything. It just works. If you’ve ever spent 20 minutes recreating the same automation in ManyChat for the 40th time, you understand why this is a game changer.
FEATURE 02
Email List Growth Built Right In
Grocers List’s Save to Email feature is genuinely one of the most powerful list-building tools we’ve seen at this price point. When a follower receives a DM link, they have the option to save it directly to their email inbox. In doing that, they hand over their email address — and Grocers List syncs it automatically to your ESP (Flodesk, Kit, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, MailerLite). We're not going to cite someone else's numbers here, because we don't need to. Two of our own clients are using this right now. One has grown her email list by over 10,000 subscribers in roughly six months… entirely through Grocers List. The other has a significantly smaller Instagram following (about 100K fewer followers) and lower overall traffic, and she's still added 1,000 new subscribers in that same window. Both of those numbers are real, both came from the Save to Email feature, and neither client is running ads or doing anything complicated to get there.
That's what this tool does when you actually use it consistently. Your email list grows in the background while you're just doing what you were already doing - posting content.
FEATURE 03
Lead Magnets, PDFs, Freebies - All Instantly Deliverable
Have a free grocery list PDF? A seasonal meal plan? An ebook? A recipe collection? Grocers List makes delivering these completely effortless. Post your Reel teasing the freebie, tell followers to comment a keyword, and the download link goes straight to their DMs. No separate landing page required. No clunky third-party link-in-bio app needed. This is the kind of lead generation strategy that used to require a full funnel setup, and now it takes about three minutes to configure.
This is especially powerful because Instagram traffic is notoriously hard to convert to a website visit. Grocers List completely sidesteps that problem by delivering the value directly inside the platform, where your audience already is.
FEATURE 04
Shop the Recipe — Built-In Affiliate Revenue
One of Grocers List’s most food-blogger-specific features is the ability to push recipe ingredients directly to a follower’s Instacart cart from inside the DM, without them ever leaving the app. Creators can earn affiliate income on every referred order. If you’re already linking to ingredients on Amazon or promoting brands, this is an elegant additional revenue layer that requires no extra work on your end after setup.
FEATURE 05
Any Link. Any Platform. Any Blogger.
This is something we don’t see talked about nearly enough: the link inside a Grocers List automation can be absolutely anything. A recipe post. An Amazon affiliate link. An LTK collection. A brand collaboration page. A course. A YouTube video. A freebie PDF. If you can paste it into a text box, you can send it as a DM. That flexibility is huge, and it’s why this tool is not just for food bloggers. We recommend it to any content creator in any niche: lifestyle, home, travel, fashion, parenting, fitness, finance. If you have an Instagram audience and want to convert followers into traffic, subscribers, or revenue, Grocers List works for you.
For influencers especially, this is a game changer. Instead of hoping followers find the link in bio, you drop an affiliate link directly into their DMs the second they comment. You’re reaching them at peak intent — the moment they see something they want — and handing them exactly what they need to buy it. For affiliate campaigns, brand deals, product drops, or promo codes, that frictionless delivery converts in a way a bio link simply cannot.
FEATURE 06
Amazon Deep Link - Stop Losing Affiliate Sales to Login Screens
When a follower clicks a standard Amazon affiliate link from Instagram, they land inside their phone’s browser - not the Amazon app - where they’re almost certainly not logged in. They hit a sign-in wall, get frustrated, and close the tab. You lose the sale and the commission. An Amazon deep link skips all of that: it opens the Amazon app directly, where the user is already logged in with their card saved. Grocers List reports this can result in up to 5x more affiliate sales - from removing that single point of friction.

Amazon Deep Link 🚀 Amazon app → Already logged in → Card saved → You earn |
Now, Here’s the SEO Angle - This One’s Important
Pop-ups work — we know that. But there’s a real SEO cost that a lot of bloggers underestimate, especially in that critical growth phase before a million page views a year. Google has actively penalized intrusive mobile pop-ups since 2017, and that policy is still firmly in place. One widely cited case study found a site that launched full-screen pop-ups lost 82% of its organic traffic in the first month — no formal penalty notice, just user experience signals quietly tanking the rankings.
|
Here’s our honest take: If you’re a smaller to mid-size blog — not yet at a million page views a year — turning off your pop-up and relying on Grocers List to grow your email list is almost always the better SEO decision. Grocers List covers the email list growth side, so you’re not sacrificing anything by making that switch. |
To be clear: a tasteful, non-intrusive opt-in that doesn’t block mobile content is fine alongside Grocers List. It’s the full-screen, content-blocking pop-ups on mobile that hurt you - and now Grocers List helps.
Why We Chose Grocers List Over ManyChat
ManyChat is a powerful tool. We won’t pretend it isn’t. But it’s built for general marketers! Instead it’s for e-commerce brands, agencies, and businesses running complex multi-step funnels. Bloggers, especially food bloggers, are not the target user. And you feel that every time you try to set it up (again, and again, and again 🙈🤣).
Pricing, And Why We Actually Love How It Works
Before we break down the tiers, let’s talk about the pricing model itself — because it’s one of our favorite things about Grocers List. It’s based on your follower count. That’s it. You know your follower count. It moves slowly and predictably. You can look at it right now and know exactly what you’ll pay. No surprises.
ManyChat, by contrast, bills on “active contacts” — every person who interacts with your automation in a given month. Post a Reel that takes off and 3,000 people comment? Your bill jumps to a tier you weren’t expecting. Historically, contacts also accumulated in your account whether they were active or not, meaning you had to go in and manually purge them to control costs. It’s one of the most commonly complained-about things in creator communities. Follower-based pricing is just simpler, fairer, and honestly a breath of fresh air.
With that context, here’s the full Grocers List pricing breakdown and our honest take on each tier:

| Custom keywords, unlimited posts, Instagram DM automation. No credit card required. This is a real, functional tool — start here with zero hesitation. |
| ||
| Everything in Free, plus Save to Email (email list growth) and Facebook automation. Scales: $60/mo up to 500K followers · $100/mo up to 2M · $200/mo up to 3M. This is the sweet spot — most of our clients live here. |
| ||
| Adds scheduled posts, advanced list tagging, and the Amazon deep link WordPress plugin — which auto-converts all your existing affiliate links sitewide. Don’t rush here. Plus does the heavy lifting for most bloggers. |
Let’s Be Honest: The One Thing That Bugs Us
We’d be doing you a disservice if we didn’t mention this, because it does come up.
First, the good news on keywords: for Posts and Reels, Grocers List's default keyword system is genuinely seamless. You set one keyword - something simple like RECIPE or LINK - and it applies automatically to every post you publish going forward. The magic is that GL reads the URL from your caption for each individual post, so that same keyword always sends the right link for the right post. You never have to set up a new automation. It just works, every time, for every post.
However, you cannot use a single universal keyword across multiple posts and Stories.
Stories are where it gets a little more manual. For Stories and Lives, you have to set the keyword and link inside Grocers List before you post - it doesn't auto-read the caption the way Posts do. And here's the specific quirk: if you use the keyword LINKS on one Story, and then use the same keyword LINKS on a new Story, Grocers List will attach that keyword to the most recent setup. So if your old Story is still live and someone replies to it with LINKS, they'll get the link from the new Story - not the one they were actually responding to. To reuse a keyword on a new Story, you'd need to delete or deactivate it from the previous one first before setting it up again.
It's not impossible to manage, and it only adds a step or two and we do this for several clients on our roster. But it does mean you can't use a single keyword universally across multiple active Stories and expect each one to deliver its own specific content.
|
Our honest take: This is a minor inconvenience, not a dealbreaker. It doesn’t happen that often in practice, and when it does, the impact is minimal. We haven’t had a single client say this limitation made them want to switch back to ManyChat. It’s worth knowing about — but it has never once made us reconsider the recommendation. |
